We began our special feast day with a whole school liturgy which was focused on the meaning of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and why our school name is so special. The image of the Sacred Heart, with flames surrounding it and displayed outside Jesus’ body, represents a heart burning with love and open to all people. Jesus points to His heart as a sign that He freely gives His love and kindness to everyone.
Each year group took part with the Nursery setting up the prayer focus and leading us in the singing of "Come and Join the Circle”. Other year groups read from Scripture; they recited a psalm and a poem and led us in prayer. Reception Class gave us some beautiful examples of why they love Sacred Heart School and Year One shared with us some joyful ways that we show love in our special school. The KS1 Dance Club demonstrated beautifully how we all belong together and all the children sang and signed hymns with such grace and emotion; we were very proud of them. It was wonderful to welcome so many parents who were able to join us for this special liturgy, helping us celebrate the fact that we are all part of one big Sacred Heart Family!
At playtime, the children (and staff!) enjoyed ice lollies and then we shared a very special picnic lunch with some of our parents. It was a day filled with happiness and joy!
